Highly Qualified Staff

Our staff at Westlake Village Hospice takes pride in serving patients throughout Los Angeles and Ventura County. Throughout a patient’s time in Hospice, they will work with various members of our interdisciplinary team. We have registered nurses on staff to provide hands-on care and support for patients and their families in the comfort of our patient’s home. Our nurses are compassionate and highly qualified; you can find detailed information about our nurses on the Hospice Nurse Qualification page.

As well as nurses, the Westlake Village interdisciplinary team also includes Hospice Physicians. A hospice physician is responsible for providing care during the last few weeks or months of a patient’s life. It is a physician’s duty to make sure their patients are as comfortable as possible, while making recommendations for future care. Hospice Physicians are flexible and responsive. They are able to see patients as often as needed to provide direction and to ease suffering.

Patients and their families commonly turn to spirituality during difficult times. We understand that many people find comfort in spiritual care, which is why trained chaplains and pastoral counselors are a part of our staff. Chaplains are available to provide guidance for patients and their families through spiritual counseling and emotional support. The role of a chaplain during hospice is to help patients find peace and comfort. Much like chaplains, pastoral counselors are also available to guide patients through this difficult time. Pastoral counselors offer spiritual advice, emotional support, and counseling to both the patient and their family. Both chaplains and pastoral counselors respect the beliefs of their patients and want to help regardless of what those beliefs may be.

Speech Therapists are often introduced during end of life care. Speech Therapist may assist with communication. In addition, Speech Therapists may also help patients with swallowing and breathing. Our speech therapists are both sensitive and responsive to the needs of each patient and their families.

Pharmacists are crucial for hospice care because they develop a treatment plan to meet the individual needs of a specific patient.  Pharmacists are there to meet the goals of patients and their families during their time in hospice care.
