Therapy & Comfort

At Westlake Village Hospice, we offer a number of amenities to make the end of life more comfortable. These range from various types of therapy to counseling to ease the emotional strain upon you and your loved ones.
Music has a host of therapeutic benefits, from strengthening neural pathways to serving as a source of creative expression. A trained music therapist employs music as a way of strengthening physical and emotional health. This can include learning a musical instrument, singing, moving to music, or practicing focused listening.
It is well understood that smells are strong triggers for memory. We associate certain aromas with happiness, excitement, nostalgia. Aroma therapy uses the targeted use of certain smells generated by medicinal plants and oils to enhance mental and emotional well-being.
Physical touch can have an incredibly restorative effect. Touch is a strong component of intimacy, and feelings of connection to other people are associated with positive effects on the mind and body. Touch therapy practitioners use gentle, specific applications of touch to restore energy and promote healing.
